Sledge hockey is Nic Klassen’s passion. Nic says that his sledge gives him a freedom of movement that he doesn’t experience on his feet. Nic explains that he loves sledge hockey because it is one time in his life where his disability disappears…there is a level playing field, no one is disabled…instead it is about your skill and ability. Nic has been chosen as one of the 2018 “Faces of Winkler.”

Meet George “Bargain Centre” Klassen, founder of Klassen’s Bargain Centre which opened in 1961. George Klassen has been a prominent business owner in the community of Winkler for 56 years. After running Klassen’s Bargain Centre for over 30 years, George sold the business to his sons in the early 1990’s. Soon after, George opened another store called, “Those Were The Days” which he actively operated for more than 20 years, until it finally closed last summer. Continue reading
